Teaching methods
Begin Your Learning Journey
At New York English Academy, your learning journey starts with a placement test to find out your English level.
This test makes sure you start your ESL classes at the right level for the best learning experience.
Once you enter our classrooms, you will be using English as your main language.
Students are encouraged to speak only English during their time at the New York English Academy, except in rare cases.

POINT 1
Real-life Communication
Our teaching method is based on "learning by doing."
We believe in giving our students practical English skills through real-life experiences, not just memorizing.
Students join in discussions, share their opinions, and improve their language skills through regular writing exercises and conversations about topics they care about.
Our lessons go beyond the classroom with weekly trips to different places and events in New York City.
During these trips, students use their new language skills in real-life situations, and our teachers help them improve their pronunciation and fluency. -
POINT 2
Our Teachers
Our teachers are near-native and native English speakers, carefully chosen to enhance your learning experience.
They have many years of experience teaching ESL in New York City and around the world.
Many of our teachers have special TEFL certifications and advanced degrees, ensuring that every student gets the best ESL education.
Our teachers work together every week to improve and evaluate our courses, making sure we always offer the highest standard of education. -
POINT 3
Training: Writing and Reading
At New York English Academy, writing is very important in our curriculum.
Each week, students complete writing assignments that their teachers carefully review and grade.
Teachers give personalized feedback to help improve writing skills.
For reading training, students read articles on current events and various topics that match their class level.
This helps strengthen their vocabulary and learn new words and idioms. -
POINT 4
Training: Listening and Reading Skills
Listening training is designed to improve listening comprehension through radio broadcasts, videos, songs, and interactive discussions.
Additionally, to enhance reading comprehension, we provide carefully selected short articles on modern and interesting topics.
By repeatedly listening and getting used to English sounds, while also speaking in your own words, you train both listening and speaking skills at the same time.
Listening and speaking are not separate activities; by doing them together, you improve both skills. -
POINT 5
Assessment and Progress Monitoring
Regular assessments are an important part of the learning journey at New York English Academy.
Students take monthly exams that cover writing, reading, listening, and speaking. After the exams, students receive detailed transcripts showing their performance.
This helps them track their progress and see how their language skills improve over time. -
POINT 6
Fun Field Trips and Activities
Field trips are extracurricular activities where students use their newly acquired English skills in real-life situations, making English their own.
Some field trips are specific to each class, while others include all classes regardless of level.
In the past, we have had trips to cultural festivals, sports events, and art exhibitions.
These trips help students immerse themselves in the culture and build friendships within the New York English Academy community.
Field trips are not only a chance to use the English learned in class outside, but also a valuable opportunity to experience American culture firsthand and gain a deeper understanding of the United States.
