School Transfer Process Guide

Steps for Transferring

  1. Consultation and Verification

First, contact the DSO (Designated School Official) at your current school to verify that your SEVIS record is in "Active" status.
Your SEVIS status must be valid to transfer to NYEA.

  2. Transfer Process

NYEA offers a range of program schedules, including morning, evening, and weekend courses.
Morning classes are available for all levels, while evening and weekend courses are designed for students at the High-Intermediate level (CEFR B2 or above).

If you wish to enroll in the evening or weekend classes, you must take a level test before registration.

    Required Documents for Enrollment

Please prepare the following documents for your application:

    • Copy of your passport
    • Copy of your F-1 visa
    • Copy of your current I-20: Ensure that the Form Issue Reason is listed as "Continued Attendance." If it states "Initial Attendance," please check with the DSO at your current school.
    • Copy of your I-94
    • Completed Enrollment Agreement Form
    • Recent bank statement
  3. Make a payment for your registration fee ($100).

We will provide you with an acceptance letter and transfer form after receiving all required documents and your registration fee payment.

  4. Submitting Transfer Documents

To initiate your transfer, submit a "Transfer Out Form" to the DSO at your current school, notifying them of your intent to transfer to NYEA.
This form must also be sent to NYEA.

  5. Issuing a New I-20

Once your SEVIS record is transferred to NYEA, our DSO will issue you a new I-20.
Before receiving the I-20, you must complete the payment for the tuition fee.

  6. Orientation and Class Start

Prior to the start of your classes, you will receive information about the speaking test, an email detailing your class schedule, and orientation details.
Attendance at the orientation is mandatory as part of the enrollment process. You can begin your full-time studies.

Important Points to Note

  1. Program Eligibility: You must enroll in a full-time program (at least 18 hours per week) to maintain your F-1 visa status.
Part-time enrollment does not meet the requirements for maintaining F-1 visa status.
Additionally, poor attendance or unexcused absences can affect your visa status, potentially resulting in the termination of your SEVIS record.
Students must maintain an attendance rate of 80% or higher.

  2. Transfer Timing: You must enroll at NYEA within 60 days of completing your last class at your current school.
If you exceed this time frame, your F-1 visa status may be at risk.

  3. Active SEVIS Record: Before starting the transfer process, ensure that your SEVIS record is in "Active" status.
If your SEVIS status is not active, you may need to apply for an new I-20.

  4. Quick Processing: To avoid delays, prepare your documents as early as possible and complete the transfer process promptly.

  5. Initial Transfer After U.S. Entry: If you wish to transfer to NYEA before starting the program at your current school after entering the U.S., you must complete an Initial Transfer process.
In this case, you must complete the transfer within 30 days of entering the U.S. and begin your program at NYEA.
Please notify us immediately if this applies to you.

Transferring to NYEA is a significant step that can positively impact your educational experience.
We are here to assist you every step of the way to ensure a smooth transfer process.
