Recent News from the school

My name is Ytzel and I’m 29 years old. I have been working as a flight attendant for the last 3 years. I studied administration and I’m also a contemporary dancer.

I have an ideology that by traveling and reading you can open your mind. I like the opportunities to know all about my country and a few more, for example, France, Italy, Colombia, Peru, Canada, Belgium, Guatemala and so on.

When I was 26 I started to work at Aviation World. I can tell you that it’s so amazing and I enjoy working there a lot. Nowadays English is so necessary. This has been my challenge since I started to fly because it is the kind of job for which you really have to practice it. I took classes in Mexico City for a few months then I got permission from my work to study the language and live here in New York.

My next goal is to be a pilot so I have to improve my English before starting school next year. I’m so excited to live that dream in my life.

THIS SUMMER: NYEA will offer evening and weekend courses at a special rate.

My name is Suzuna Ikeda. I came to New York from Japan to study opera in graduate school. There are two reasons why I chose to move to NY, one is singing and one is English .

When I was 8 years old, I went to Australia for one month by myself. The new wonderful world gave me huge inspiration and obviously, to be able to speak English turned into one of my goals. On the other hand, when I had to choose one from them, I chose music, because I knew music is part of who I am. I started playing piano on my third birthday and then I changed my major to voice music after I won a contest when I was 16 years old. That was really unexpected, however, singing has became part of my life right now.

I graduated from Tokyo University of Arts last spring and this year has been the time to study English. I love my class, friends and teachers in NYEA. I can meet lots of new people from all over the world every day. Future is shaped by various experiences we have got. I want to be an attractive opera singer!

Sonia Londino

My name is Sonia Londino, I am originally from Tamaulipas Mexico. I’ve lived in New York for almost 2 years with my husband and our pretty dog Izzy.

Before forming my family, I lived in Tampico Tamaulipas where I graduated and worked as a lawyer for a government entity. I served as an auditor of companies and sometimes as a teacher of law classes at the university. My parents and my two brothers live in Mexico along with my friends. I miss my city a lot because there is a very calm beach with beautiful colors. Every weekend we spent time there. At least 10 months of the year it is hot but it is very pretty!

I am currently dedicated to learning English as a second language since my new environment requires it. In the future I would like to work in something similar to what I did in Mexico to recover my career professionally.

There are still some spots left in our popular, new TESOL training course for native and non-native speaking English teachers. Starts August 19th, Sign up now! Don’t miss out.
