If you attend classes at PC Tech in our location at 80 Maiden Lane in Lower Manhattan, there are many of tasty and interesting places to visit within a one minute walk of the school. How’s that for convenient? Let’s start with some great food options very near the school.

Ramen Burger

If you want something more interesting than just a burger and fries, you need to try a Ramen Burger at Ramen Co on 191 Pearl St. It’s owned and operated by Keizo Shimamoto, a ramen noodle fanatic from California who quit his job as a computer programmer to bring his love of ramen to NYC. Go eat a Ramen Burger—it’s the best of two worlds! Terri NYC If you’re in a hurry and/or have vegetarian tastes, drop by Terri NYC and try something yummy that is also healthy! Even if you don’t eat meat, the meatballs and soy bacon taste just like the real thing.

Chipotle

If you like burritos, the nationwide and well-loved Chipotle chain has a restaurant just a block down from New York English Academy. It may not be as interesting as the above-mentioned spots, but the ingredients are good and it’s also very cheap! After that healthy burrito, why not finish with dessert?  Let’s explore some choices for your sweet tooth.

Financier Patisserie

Named for its famous pastry baked in the shape of a gold bar, Financier Patisserie serves up fancy pastries and coffee in their Stone Street location at 62 Stone Street 7 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday to Friday and slightly reduced hours on the weekend.

Blue Spoon Coffee

They don’t serve a lot of sweets but they do serve some great coffee at Blue Spoon Coffee and some are sweet enough for a dessert. It’s just around the corner on William Street and they keep the coffee brewing 7 a.m.–6:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and slightly different hours on Friday and weekends. If you want more than dessert after a hard day of classes, we also have some excellent options for you. Here’s a few places where you can go for happy hour.

Bars in Lower Manhattan within 1 minute from NYEA

Cedar Local

Cedar Local is a low-key cocktail bar one street over from the New York English Academy at 25 Cedar Street. They have a variety of interesting cocktails and some nice munchies to go along with the drinks. It’s a great place to get a quiet drink with a friend.

Jim Brady’s Irish Pub

If you want to catch a Rangers game or just enjoy a good sports bar, head to Jim Brady’s Irish Pub at 75 Maiden Lane. They have plenty of local beers on tap and the games are always on, since 1977. Alcohol may help you forget… but there are many places around the school to help you learn, as well. Try out these mentally-stimulating places.

Lower Manhattan Museums within 1 Minute from NYEA

Museum of American Finance

Given that New York English Academy is in the Finance District, you should of course check out the Museum of American Finance (MoAF) at 48 Wall Street, just two blocks over from the school.  MoAF is part of the Smithsonian Institution and has a number of exhibits, including “America in Circulation,” a history of American money, and “The Fed at 100,” which explains the history and role of the Federal Reserve in America. They give a student discount so be sure to bring your ID when you go.

South Street Seaport Museum

The South Street Seaport Museum at 12 Fulton Street is a great place to learn about the history of New York City as the founding port city of America. It has a large collection of nautical (sea) artifacts, including ship models, paintings, navigational instruments, 19th century tattoo art, and much more. It also maintains the Street of Ships with six ships from different historical eras, including some that you can go for a sail on! After all your studying, eating and sailing, maybe you would like to work out! No problem, there are a few fitness centers and clubs very near the school as well.

Lower Manhattan Gyms and Fitness Centers within 1 minute from NYEA

Crunch

First started in 1989 as a simple aerobics studio, they now have locations all over the United States, including New York. They want to make exercise fun for everybody.

Soul Cycle

SoulCycle's "Ride With Soul" Best Buddies Benefit

If you don’t like traditional work outs, you can head on over to Soul Cycle, an innovative way to get fit. Soul Cycle is the new and hip way to do indoor cycling. Sessions range anywhere from 15–60 minutes, so you can decide how long you want to do it!

Take a Jog

Since you’ve made it across the world to get here, why not enjoy the scenery by jogging? Save money, soak in that New York sunshine and get lost in the city. You never know what secret new and fun spot you may find. You can learn more about affordable fitness centers near NYEA here.

When 1 minute isn’t enough

If you need or want to go somewhere more than one minute away from school, make sure you look into Citi Bike, NYC’s bike sharing program. With bike stations located all over the city, this is a convenient and inexpensive way to get around NYC. Check out their site for more details on the membership options available.

The nearest station to NYEA is at the corner of Maiden Lane and Pearl St. With so many great places to eat, drink and explore—all within one minute of NYEA—just imagine all the many other wonderful places that are 2, 3 or 4 minutes away.
